The Because You Matter Run/Walk/Hike/Bike is an opportunity to move and fundraise for something that matters—your mental & physical health and at the same time, a memory of someone you love. You choose whether you want to run, walk, bike, hike a specific amount of miles in honor of a specific person in your life. We will all join together on June 26th across the state and nation wearing our shirts and moving to promote mental health.

wendy's story:
My son Kyle died by suicide on February 16, 2020. He was a light to those that knew him, and he had the most joyful laugh. I wanted to do something in memory of him as well as draw awareness to depression. I set the goal to run 21 miles for each year we were blessed to have him in our lives. Kyle felt best when he was outdoors being physically active. I envisioned family and friends joining in but as the depression and suicide rates increased, I felt compelled to encourage more people to join in. Physically activity plays an important role in combatting depression. I was introduced to Only7Seconds shortly after Kyle’s passing. I absolutely love the message of spreading hope. As I become more involved in the Only7Seconds movement I have felt a sense of purpose. Collectively, we can make a difference in our community as we spur each other on to keep moving forward.
